Poke Bowls

Aloha,

Happy New Year! My recent trip to Hawaii allowed me the opportunity to indulge in some incredibly fresh seafood. One of my all-time favorite lunches was the Poke Bowl. Poke Bowls are a Japanese and Hawaiian fusion dish that is now popular across the world. In Hawaiian food culture, poke literally translates to cut something.  This accurately and concisely describes the process of making a Poke Bowl. The chef simply cuts marinated or raw bits of fish (typically ahi tuna) or seafood and mixes it with rice and other vegetables. Soy sauce (and other sauces) can be added to taste. Poke Bowls have increased in popularity globally mainly for their relatively small yet satisfying portion sizes and high nutrition content.

Nota Bene- Consuming tuna has many health benefits, one of which is providing the body with Vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is responsible for helping the body create and replenish red blood cells. Vitamin B12 plays an essential part in memory and nerve function.
